Lunar New Year at Pop!

新春快樂 - Happy Lunar New Year & Year of the Rabbit, folks!

Throughout the year at Pop Bubble Tea we will be highlighting and celebrating several holidays and events central to Asian culture. One of the most important of those, the Lunar New Year, kicks off this weekend. In preparation, Pop's co-founder, Eva Peterson, has adorned the store with traditional red and gold decorations. She has also created 2 Bubble Tea specials for the occasion, which will be available starting Saturday, 1/21 and through Sunday 2/5! Each drink also comes with a blessing for all of you :)

Golden Bunny Wish,  金兔賀歲, is a red bean & coconut milk drink garnished with cheese cap & a golden bunny. And with this drink comes a blessing... 

"May good health, peace, wealth, and happiness follow you all year!"

In Chinese culture the golden color symbolizes wealth and success. Red is the most traditional color in the Lunar New Year and represents good fortune, luck, celebration, and prosperity. The use of red bean, other than for color, was inspired by the tradition of having red bean soup with rice ball during Lunar New Year. Those together signify strength and reunion. 

Full of Fortune, 大吉大利, is a Kumquat soda with crystal pearl and strawberry popping. Its blessing is... 

"We wish you great fortune and favor in the year of Rabbit!"

The pronunciation of Kumquat in Cantonese is very similar to luck/fortune (吉), so it is very common to see them around Lunar New Year. Eva added the red strawberry popping pearls for good fortune and luck and the crystal pearl because we treasure each of you in this community!
